It's been a long and ardous road for Toturi and his merry band. Gone are the days of Toturi and Mikio rabble rousing and basically kicking ass and taking names..... I'm afraid to say it but

Toturi's gone all honorable.

That's the way forward my Ronin friends. We now get out blitzed by the Fox & out tactioned by the Lion. We therefore only have 1 strength left

DUELING

It's the Army's main strength now, supported by cheap characters with high chi, Toturi's Army can now be seen as maybe the top dueling clan. There's no particular outstanding duelists, just people who can get the job done. Nakao at 5 gold and 4 chi can be a dueling monster, Tzurui at 7 gold and 4 chi is an able back-up. In open tournaments you can add Mikio to this, Ginawa and Tohaku all come off the stronghold with slightly above average chi, with the addition of out little shugenja friend who gives unaligned samurai force and chi bonuses it ain't difficult to find someone to step forward and issue a challenge.

This leads to several deck archetypes, most of which, funnily enough contain dueling.

Toturi Dueling/Tactician Deck

Using the Tatctician Guy's Tzurui, Kaagi and than Dude we borrowed from the Mantis, there's an honour/attack deck available, it suffers from trying to do too much though, not as fast as other honor decks, not as fast as other attack decks. A jack of-all trades deck that should hold it's own against all but the nost focused decks

Toturi Dueling/Honor Deck

TA have access to a lot of PH 3 guys, Tohaku, Seppun Mashita, Nakao and the aforementioned Mantis dude all mean fast honor gains from characters, and they all have high chi too..... Dueling Honor only seems reasonable.

Toturi Blitz (No Dueling - Shock Horror)

A break from the norm. No dueling...... When the Palaces first came out people looked at it as an OK stronghold with possibilities, it took Chris Bergstrom (Who else) to come up with the CTB. A first turn character would generally mean a second turn province against most strongholds, with no halt put on honor losses this deck, while stomping provinces with abandon suffered from a mild case of the dishonour's. Personally I feel "War Weary" saw an end to this deck type.

Toturi Honor/Dishonor/Dueling

A deck type suggested by the renowned Mr Wootton. Imperial Ambassadors and Lessons of honor seem to be the heart of this deck. Duel your opponent for honor, if he refuses shame him....Den of spies reduce his honor...Lessons of honor teach him the error of his ways. Martyr for your Toku's. It's a deck that has potential given the right mix....

Toturi Magistrate Deck (probably include dueling somewhere)

With the release of the new stronghold, I'm convinced there's a playable Toturi Magistrate deck. Armour of the Monkey Clan is a very good item card and combined with some of the stuff from SotE, Magistratres have some powers available to them. I tried a varient on the Unicorn Magistrate deck, which while being able to hack and maim in the dueling stakes seemed to lack force and province taking ability.
