Mantis Clan
Under the leadership of Yoritomo, the Son of Storms, the Mantis Clan have rose to a position of strength and with the Three Man Alliance with other minor clans has garnered respect from the Great Clans. The Mantis with their large navy and mercenary values also have a strong trade base which brings them great wealth. Formed after Hida Osano-Wo slighted his wife by not giving her son the clan sword, the proud Lion samurai-ko took her son to the Islands of Spice where the Mantis came into being. Once carried the family name of 'Gusai', it was stripped of them after a Mantis daiymo tried to assassinate the Emperor.

An'naigaka R - Female Samurai-ko. Small and beautiful karo (chief advisor) to Yoritomo himself.

Daikua S - Male. Sailor and scout who acted during the Scorpion coup.

Gemasu R - Male Samurai. Brother of An'naigaka. Karo to Yoritomo. Killed in a pirate attack on his ship while on route to the Crane coast.

Hasagawa S - Male Samurai. Hired by the Scorpion to fight on their side during the Scorpion coup.

Hoji Bokusui R - Male. Merchant who is rumoured to have left to seek the treasure of Yemon's legacy.

Kaimetsu-uo H - Male. Son of Osana-Wo and the founder of the Mantis clan on the Islands of Spice.

Kirei H - Female. Mother of Yoritomo. Protected the young boy from the gaijin attackers that slughtered many of the Mantis family line.

Koebi R - Male. Sailor and rumoured pirate who operated down the River of Gold out of Ryoko Owari.

Nobio C - Male Shugenja.

Ranbe C - Male Shugenja. Powerful shugenja thought to hold the bear the heritage of Osano-Wo in his veins.

Riku R - Male Samurai. Yoriki to the village of Kashi.

Takinami R - Male Shugenja. Powerful practitioner of the magical arts.

Tobuko R - Female Samurai-ko. Has a strong disdain for the code of bushido and was last seen in the company of a known brigand.

Yoritomo C - Male Samurai. Daiymo of the Clan and leader of the Three Man Alliance, the Son of Storms is a fighter of note in the Empire. Youngest son of Yoshitsune and Kirei, his elder siblings were killed by gaijin in a betrayal of the clan. Stood before the daiymos of the Great Clans outside Otosan Uchi and demanded the recognition of his forces.

Yoritomo Denkyu T - Male Samurai. Guardsman in the army of the Mantis in the Phoenix lands. His parents were killed, blaming the Phoenix he is ever more eager to attack their holdings.

Yoritomo Hogosha T - Male. Advisor that suggested that Yoritomo break tradition and take the throne to stabilise and secure the Empire. He argued against Otomo Banu for the right of Yoritomo to claim the Throne, the Phoenix sided against the Mantis with their lands currently under seige by its despot leader.

Yoritomo Kamoto T - Male Samurai. An excellent tactician and mercenary, he served within the ranks of Toturi during the Clan Wars.

Yoritomo Kanbe T - Male Samurai. A mercenary who will swear fealty to whoever pays his price.

Yoritomo Masasue T - Male Samurai. Elderly mercenary who fought during the Clan Wars.

Yoritomo Nodoteki T - Male Kobune Captain. A leader in the pirate fleets of the power-hungry Mantis and a notorious gambler.

Yoritomo Takuni T - Male. Sailor in the extensive Mantis navy, he has a formidable knowledge of the coasts of Rokugan.

Yoritomo Tsuyu T - Male Samurai. A duellist, Tsuyu is deadly with the naginata. After a battle with the Captain of the Imperial Guard he bears a scar, his broken naginata and a thirst for revenge.

Yoritomo Yukue T - Female Samurai. A veteran soldier in the ranks of the Mantis.

Yoshitsune H - Male Samurai. Father of Yoritomo. It is thought that he was replaced by an imposter during the gaijin betrayal, he died shortly after Yoritomo's gempukku in mysterious circumstances.
